Nastics

Image
Nastics is what Riley calls gymnastics.  She still gets excited for every Monday because she knows we get to go to gymnastics.  However, for the past month her regular coach hasn't been there because she had a death in her family and is back on the mainland.  We've had the same substitute for the past 3 weeks and I'm not really a fan of her.  She doesn't really have much structure for the class and the kids are all running around like wild monkeys.  Especially Riley!  Today Riley didn't even get to jump on the trampoline which is her favorite part.  It's just frustrating because we pay a good amount of money for Riley to go and she's not getting to do everything that her normal coach does.  I honestly think I could run it better than the substitute.  I'm crossing my fingers that next week Riley's regular coach will be back.  Riley is still having fun, but I know what we normally do in the class and expect that routine every week!

Another Frightening Day

After the day I had yesterday, I was excited to go to my first OB appointment this morning.  I mean there really isn't anything better than hearing your baby's heartbeat for the first time.  My appointment was early at 8am, so I was up before the girls were getting myself ready to go.  Riley woke up as soon as I was done getting ready, so I got her fed.  I had to wake Hadley up so I could feed her before we left.  I walked the girls down to my friend Abbey's because she was kind enough to offer to watch them while I went to my appointment.  I get to my appointment and see the massive amount of people that are there waiting to be seen.  I was thinking to myself, I'm going to be here forever.  So I grabbed a magazine and tried to keep myself entertained.  I was trying my hardest not to listen or look at the tv because it was on the Food Network and it was making me sick to my stomach.  I hadn't eaten because I was rushing around trying to ...

Scariest Moment of My Life, Thus Far!

Image
I'd like to think of myself as a mom that doesn't make too many mistakes.  Sure my children have rolled off the couch, banged their heads on corners of tables, gotten a bloody lip or two, but I haven't let anything too awful happen to them.   I ran out to run some errands this morning, nothing too out of the ordinary.  When we got home I parked my Tahoe in the garage, turned the car off, and went to get the girls out of the car.  I always leave my door open until both of the girls are out of the car, don't know why I do, but I do.  I get Riley out and then walk around to the other side of the Tahoe to grab Hadley.  As I reach for the door handle on Hadley's side I hear a click.  The click you hear when the doors lock.  I see through the window that Riley had shut my door.  I still try to open Hadley's door, but it's locked.  My heart sank into my stomach.  Now normally it wouldn't be an issue because I could just grab the spare set ...

Little Piggies

I often wonder when I'm going to get to the point at meals when I don't have to wipe my children down head to toe after they are done eating.  Clearly with a third on the way I have years to go. It's funny though, Riley wasn't a messy eater as a baby.  I didn't even have to put a bib on her because she ate every spoonful I gave her.  Hadley is a different story.  She likes to eat what's on the spoon and then spit some back out of her mouth.  Then she likes to grab the spoon from me and make food go flying everywhere.  Riley isn't so much of clean eater anymore.  She always winds up with food all over her face and we always take her shirt off because she always manages to spill something down the front of her.  Due to the fact that Riley doesn't like to have anything dirty on her clothes, she eats topless!  I'm now introducing regular foods to Hadley.  I'm really cautious though because she has a horrible gag reflex and I don't think I co...

Sidewalk Chalk

Image
Riley's new favorite outdoor activity is to draw with her sidewalk chalk.  She is seriously a huge fan of the chalk.  She loves when daddy and mommy draw things for her too.  I'm not the best artist, so my drawings normally consist of flowers, butterflies, hearts and stars.  Sometimes I'll draw a little sailboat, but it seriously looks like third grade art!  Trey is somewhat better than me.  He drew her a big huge speed boat (which she is standing on the front of in the picture to the left).  The good thing is Riley doesn't care what you draw or how good you are at drawing it, just as long as you use the color that she chooses for you.  Riley likes to draw pictures of mommy, daddy and Hadley.  We all look like scribbles, but she's proud of her work!  Trey drew a hopscotch area so we were trying to teach Riley how to do play.  She didn't pay much attention to our direction and just kept running through the hopscotch game. ...

Rainy Days

Image
First of all, I'm sorry I've been slacking on keeping the blog updated.  I have been feeling totally lethargic lately and any moment that I might get free is used for me to rest.  Honestly, the last thing I have felt like doing is sitting in front of my computer to type a story.  However, last night I got asked by Trey to update the blog.  He informed me that he enjoys showing off new pictures at work.  So I feel guilty because I know there are people that check in on us frequently.  These shots are from last week.  It rained almost every day which was actually alright with me because that meant I didn't have to go play outside.  Isn't that awful of me?  I did my best to keep the girls entertained inside though.  There was a lot of coloring going on for Riley and block building with both of the girls.  Hadley's new favorite thing to do is climb into Riley's chair and just chill out.  It's the cutest thing to just watch her sit ...

Thank Goodness for Daddy

I was so happy that Trey had a three day weekend.  I have been so sick the past few days.  The worst part is that it's not even pregnancy related.  I've been having sinus issues, sore throat, and running a slight fever. It's been absolutely miserable.  I have had zero energy which makes me feel so guilty because I'm just not motivated to play with the girls or do anything for that matter.  Luckily, Trey has been home and keeping the girlies entertained.  He was seriously a life saver this weekend.  I'm not sure what I would've done if I was feeling this crappy during the week while he was at work.  It's times like this that I wish I was near my family so my mom could just come over and watch the kids while I slept away my illness.  I got to do it with Trey here instead though!  Anyway, I just wanted to share this adorable video that Trey took while entertaining Hadley.  I was jealous when I watched it because I missed such an adorab...

First Time in a Long Time

Image
Despite the fact that I'm not feeling the greatest, I decided to continue with my plans this morning of getting a manicure and pedicure.  Let me enlighten you for a moment.  The last time I got a manicure and pedicure was the week before Riley was born.  If you do the math that's two and half years ago.  I'm sure you can imagine what my feet look like.  Terrible would be the word to describe my feet!  Honestly they were so bad I was embarrassed to go get a pedicure.  Anyway, I decided to go use some of my birthday money and treat myself to some nice "me" time.  As I was leaving Trey suggested that I take Riley with me.  I was annoyed that he even suggested I take her because I was going to have time to myself.  Then I thought for a moment and understood where he was coming from.  I don't ever get just mommy-Riley time and it could be a nice bonding experience for us to get our nails done together.  I was upset at myself for get...
